Watched the movie Sanam Teri Kasam on TV or OTT yet? Well, this classic romantic film featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane was first released in 2016 but was a commercial failure back then. However, your minds will be blown to note that the film which achieved cult status over a period of time when it was released on television, is finding success again after its re-release on February 7 this year. Yeah, you read it right! Sanam Teri Kasam which was made in a budget of Rs. 25 crores in 2016, earned only Rs. 8 crores back then. However, the re-released film did better in 2025, in fact much better than Junaid Khan’s debut film Loveyapa, Himesh Reshamiya’s Badass Ravikumar, and even Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Interesting, isn’t it?
The renewed success of Sanam Teri Kasam is part of a growing trend in Bollywood, where movies that didn’t do well initially get a second chance at the box office. Sanam Teri Kasam is about Inder who is a tough ex-convict, and Saraswati who is a simple librarian. Inder falls in love with Saraswati but is unable to express his deep love for her until the last section of the film. If you haven’t seen the film yet, know how love is eternal and not based on looks, designation, money, or even life. Chirantan Das handled the cinematography, Himesh Reshammiya composed the music, and the lyrics were written by Reshammiya, Sameer Anjaan, Shabbir Ahmed, and Subrat Sinha. You will surely leave the theatre humming its title track.
