The Prayer Tahajjud is a well known and very special & beneficial prayer that brings peace and happiness to the heart & strengthens our connection with Allah Almighty. It is not an obligation, but it is one of the best optional prayers a Muslim can fulfil.
Tahajjud is a prayer that is offered in the last part of the night, when the whole world is quiet, & one can speak to Allah with sincerity and honesty.
When to Pray Tahajjud?
The best time to Pray Tahajjud is the last third of the night. This is the time when most people are asleep, & the whole world is quiet. It is the perfect and best moment to stand before Allah Almighty and ask for His mercy, forgiveness, & guidance.
How to Fulfil Tahajjud?
1. Have the purpose:
Before sleeping, make an intent in your heart that you will wake up for Tahajjud prayer.
2. Wake up & do wudu:
When you wake up, fulfil your wudu (ablution) to completely purify yourself.
3. Pray minimum two rak’ahs of Tahajjud:
You can pray two rak’ahs or more, depending on your strength. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) often prayed eight, twelve or more rak’ahs.
4. Recite the Holy Quran:
After reciting Surah Al-Fatihah, you can recite any surah or verses that bring peace and happiness to your heart.
5. Make Dua:
After finishing or completing your Tahajjud prayer, take time to make a sincere dua. This is a unique and special time when Allah Almighty listens to His servants.

A Holy Quranic Verse About Tahajjud
Allah says in the Quran:
“They arise from their beds; they call upon their Lord in fright & desire, & they spend (in charity) from what We have offered them.” (Surah As-Sajdah 32:16)
A Hadith on Tahajjud Prayer
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“Pray the night prayer, for it’s the practice of the virtuous before you. It brings you closer to your lord, erases sins, & Prevents wrongdoing.” (Tirmidhi)
