In the middle of ongoing discussions about who should lead the Pakistan national cricket team, middle order batter Iftikhar Ahmed has openly supported Mohammad Rizwan to continue as captain. Iftikhar praised Rizwan leadership qualities and said he sees him as the best option.Iftikhar clarified in a recent interview that his support for Rizwan is not because of personal friendship but because of Rizwan performance and potential. Iftikhar said, “If you compare all the available options, Rizwan is the best and he can keep improving.”
Rizwan is currently the captain of Pakistan ODI team but his leadership has come under question after disappointing results in recent tournaments,including the Champions Trophy and the tour of New Zealand.
Even though some people have criticized him, Mohammad Rizwan has been one of Pakistan’s most consistent players in recent years. He has also done really well as a captain in domestic cricket. Multan Sultans have become one of the top teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) under his leadership.
Iftikhar Ahmed support for Rizwan comes at a time when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering about the future captain of the national cricket team . The way Rizwan is being backed by teammates and experienced players like Iftikhar shows that he is still a strong choice for the captaincy.
