The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced that the 2025 annual intermediate exams which were supposed to start on April 28 have been postponed. The exams will now begin on May 5.
This decision was made on the instructions of the board chairman due to two main reasons. First the process of awarding grace marks in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics for the 2024 first year students (Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering and General Science groups) is still ongoing. Second is many examination centres are currently being used for matric exams which started on April 8 and will continue until May 8.
Students, schools and parents have been advised to continue preparing according to the new schedule. BIEK has also said that any further updates will be shared on their official website (www.biek.edu.pk) and their verified Facebook and Instagram pages.
The Sindh government Department of Universities and Boards has recently issued a notification granting grace marks to students of Intermediate Part-I (Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering) who appeared in the 2024 exams. As per the decision students will receive 20% grace marks in Chemistry and 15% in Physics and Mathematics.
This decision was approved during the provincial cabinet meeting held on April 15.
