It is the policy of the United Kingdom (UK) government to publicly publish a list of deliberate defaulters. If an amount of tax default exceeds £25,000, the name of a person gets published in the list. A purpose of indicating name openly is to minimize the cases of deliberate defaulting.
A list published on Tuesday includes the name of Hasan Nawaz, a son of Pakistan Muslim League’s (PMLN) president and former Prime minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in defaulters list at second place labeling him a deliberate “tax defaulter”.
The list contains names of individuals and companies that HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC) issued penalties to, for making mistakes in tax payment or not obeying HMRC tax paying rules.
This list spots Hasan Nawaz as property developer with registered addresses at 1 Hyde Park Place and Avenfield House.
As per provided information, Hasan Nawaz failed to pay tax amount of £9.4 million between April 5, 2015, and April 6, 2016. The United Kingdom tax authority has also implemented a penalty of £5.2 million on him.
Last year in April 2024 , Hasan Nawaz was declared bankrupt by the High court of justice.
