The ICC Champions Trophy is just around the corner. Yesterday, the Indian cricket team presented their official jersey for the upcoming tournament. The jerseys featured the Champions Trophy logo and ‘Pakistan’.
For many people, this came as a surprise. Speculation had been rising that Team India might not include the name of Pakistan on their jerseys. But the BCCI and the ICC adhered to tournament guidelines.
The presence of Pakistan’s name on the Indian team’s jersey is not just a fashion statement. It reflects the unique nature of Champions Trophy. It is the first time in recent years that India’s team has put on jerseys featuring Pakistan’s name.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on February 19 in Pakistan. Eight teams from across the globe are going to put it all on the line for the trophy. The Dubai International Cricket Stadium has been selected as the neutral stadium.
