The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the moon of Shawal 1446AH is likely to be sighted on the evening of March 30, 2025.
According to astronomers, the birth of the new moon is expected to occur at 15:58 PST on March 29, 2025. Based on these calculations, there is a high probability of spotting the crescent the next evening on 30th March 2025.
On the other hand weather forecasts suggest partly cloudy conditions in various regions, which could potentially impact visibility in some areas.
In addition to the PMD’s prediction, the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has also indicated that Eid ul Fitr will possibly be observed on March 31, 2025.
To officially confirm the moon’s sighting for Eid-ul- Fitr 2025 the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with zonal and district committees will gather on 30th March 2025. The final decision will determine when the nation celebrates this blessed occasion.
