Production & Filming Of Revelations
Yeon Sang-ho wanted to step away from fantasy elements and focus on psychological themes based on real-life experience, after the success of his two works, Train to Busan (2016) and Hellbound (2021).
This time, I ruled out fantasy as much as possible,” Yeon said. “I wanted to explore illusions, delusions, and trauma found in everyday life.”
Alfonso Cuarón, a renowned film-maker and director of Roma (2018) and Gravity (2013), joined the project as a producer. “I’ve been a fan of Yeon’s work since King of Pigs premiered at Cannes,” Cuarón said. “When I saw the Train to Busan, I was blown away. I knew I had to collaborate with him someday.”
The film was shot across multiple locations in South Korea, with a spotlight on dark, gritty settings that mirror the psychological tension of the story .Principal photography for Revelations began in April 2024 and finalized in June 2024.

Story Of Revelations
The story starts when Pastor Min-chan’s son doesn’t come home from school. In a panic he believes Yang-rae is a suspect who is a known criminal hanging around the church. In a flash of anger Min-chan chases Yang-rae and knocks him off a cliff, thinking he killed him. But right after doing so he gets a phone call that his son is safe. Min-chan initially feels shocked and guilty after knocking Yang-rae off a cliff but soon after he gets an offer for a high ranking position at a big church. Although it was just a coincidence, he interprets it as a divine sign. He starts believing that God is rewarding him and approving of what he did.
Meanwhile, Detective Yeon-hee is investigating a missing girl, Shin A-yeong, and is also looking for Yang-rae. Her sister took her life years ago after getting abused by Yang-rae so the detective has a kind of personal connection with him.
As Detective Yeon-hui detects more evidence, she begins to suspect that Min-chan may have a connection to the case.
Story twists when Min-chan comes to know that Yang-rae survived the fall and is recovering in a hospital. He kidnaps him again and takes him to an abandoned construction site. Detective Yeon-hee arrives just in time to stop Min-chan, but things go off the rails. In the chaos, Yang-rae falls to his death, but before he dies, he gives a clue about the missing girl: “The one-eyed monster ate her.”
To know the reality, Detective Yeon-hee takes help from a psychiatrist named Lee Nak-seong, who once defended Yang-rae in court. Nak-seong explains to her that Yang-rae has an abusive childhood and the “one-eyed monster” was actually a window in the attic where Yang-rae was abused by his father.
Yeon-hee gets new understanding from it and then starts matching clues and finally finds A-yeong tied up in a place like Yang-rae’s old attic.
