Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for a two day official visit to Belarus on the invitation of President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
He is accompanied by a high level delegation which includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
The visit is planned from April 10 to April 11. The visit plans to increase bilateral ties and seek new cooperation according to the Foreign Office.
PM Shehbaz Sharif will hold a meeting with the Belarusian president during the visit and review the progress made in mutual areas of interest.
This visit is in continuation of the recent high level engagements between the two sides including the 8th Session of the Joint Ministerial Commission in February 2025 and earlier this month ministerial delegation’s visit to Belarus.
Various agreements and MoUs are likely to be signed in sectors such as e-commerce, science and technology, vocational education, health, halal trade, environment disaster management. Both countries will also increase cooperation to share intelligence related to money laundering and terrorism financing
This visit also reviews implementation of the signed Roadmap for Comprehensive Cooperation 2025-27 during November last year.
