Rolex has just introduced the Land Dweller and it might be one of the most exciting releases from the brand in years. This all new model is not just about a fresh design but it introduces groundbreaking watch technology with the Dynapulse Escapement. It is a high frequency movement that could change mechanical watchmaking.
The Land Dweller revives a case shape that dates back to the 1970s Oysterquartz and Datejust 1530 models. It brings Rolex back into the luxury sports watch game with a sleek integrated bracelet while being 20% thinner than a Datejust. The Land Dweller sports a honeycomb dial with Explorer style numerals and a Cyclops date magnifier.
The bracelet is one of the biggest changes. The new Flat Jubilee bracelet now includes the Crownclasp which is a hidden clasp for a seamless look. The watch is available in steel, Everose gold and platinum with optional diamond set bezels.
Inside the Caliber 7135 movement introduces Rolex’s first high-frequency (5 Hz) mechanical movement. The traditional lever escapements rely on oil and create friction. The Dynapulse Escapement is the key innovation which on the other hand uses two silicon escape wheels. This escapement reduces wear and makes the movement more reliable.
Rolex spent nearly 10 years developing this escapement and it could be as revolutionary as Omega’s Co-Axial system. The Land-Dweller promises better accuracy, longer service intervals and improved durability With self-lubricating anti-magnetic silicon components.

Why did Rolex choose This Design For Land Dweller
Rolex has a history of introducing its most advanced movements in unique case shapes. The Oysterquartz Texano (1970) was one of the first Rolex models with a quartz movement and it had a similar integrated bracelet. Rolex is paying homage to its legacy by choosing this design again while pushing the boundaries of mechanical watchmaking.
