Recently Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the Health Engineering and Minerals Show in Lahore, arranged by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited investors from 60 countries to invest in the country in the field of mines and minerals.
A number of key stakeholders from local and international markets attended the event which admired Pakistan’s determination for economic growth, innovation and youth empowerment.
While addressing the ceremony, PM Shehbaz said that over 60% of the population of Pakistan comprised of youth who are now acquiring knowledge of modern technologies such as information technology and artificial intelligence. He praised their potential and called them smart, capable and energetic. He also said the future of Pakistan is in research, innovation, and development and the government will try its best to provide a robust platform to the youth to avail the opportunities in these fields.
The Prime Minister also relayed some positive news on the economy. The inflation that used to be 38% a month is now at 1.5%. From 22.5% the interest rate was brought down to 12% and electricity prices were also decreased in a bid to make them cheaper for both industrial growth and households.
Stalls displaying Pakistan vast industrial and natural resources including drugs, agricultural machinery, gems, jewelry and precious stones, were featured at the exhibition. PM Shehbaz termed the exhibition as a magnificent display of Pakistan’s capabilities. He also pointed out the need to increase trade with countries including China, Africa, Europe and the United States.
The Prime Minister also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in his speech.
In his concluding remarks, PM Shehbaz said that Pakistan is on the right track again. Country is getting stronger, self reliant and prosperous via joint ventures, advanced technology and a brilliant youth force.
Speaking on the occasion, federal minister for commerce Jam Kamal said the agreement would pave the way for new collaborative projects in the minerals sector. The exhibition included several agreements and MoUs that are big steps towards the growth ahead.
