Pakistan Railways suspended the operations of the Sir Syed Express which has always been an important link between Karachi, the growing port city and Rawalpindi, the northern hub.
This train operates on a daily basis, runs through the long length of Pakistan and connects major metropolitan cities. However, the service has been halted abruptly. The decision was taken on the request of the private operator, M/s Ras Logistics.
Reason to Suspend Sir Syed Express Service (Train)
The company cited financial worries as a major reason for the suspension of the train operations. The introduction of the Shah Hussain Express on precisely the same route affected the revenue of the Sir Syed Express. This revenue fall caused M/s Ras Logistics to suspend the running of the train.
Pakistan Railways have now issued a formal declaration regarding the halting of the train service. Meanwhile the Shah Hussain Express is offering an alternative for passengers.
