A person or entity that routinely files its annual income tax return with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is known as a filer. Having a filer status provides certain financial and legal advantages including a lower tax rate, reduced withholding tax on vehicles and property purchase and also priority in government schemes.
If you want to know whether you are a filer or not, there are two simple ways to check your filer status in Pakistan.
How to Check Filer Status Online through Active Taxpayer List
FBR provides an Active Taxpayer List (ATL) system where you can check anyone’s filer status online.
- Visit the FBR official website:
🔗 https://www.fbr.gov.pk - Click on Active Taxpayer List (ATL) or go directly to:
🔗 https://www.fbr.gov.pk/atl - Enter your CNIC number (without dashes)
Example: 3520285123456 - Fill in the captcha code as shown in the image
- Click on جمع کروائیں۔
If your name appears in the list it means you are a filer.
If not then you are a non filer.
Check Filer Status via SMS
This method is ideal for those without internet access.

- Type your CNIC number (without dashes)
- Send it to 9966
You will receive a reply from FBR shortly whether you are a filer or non filer.
