دی Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) has announced a raise in pensions during a meeting held on April 28, 2025.
The minimum monthly pension will increase from Rs10,000 to Rs11,500 while pensions above Rs10,000 will be raised by 15%. The purpose of this step is to provide much needed financial relief to elderly citizens across the country.
The decision was made during a high level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Salik Hussain where EOBI performance for the 2024–25 fiscal year was reviewed.
It was reported that EOBI income had jumped to Rs 116 billion with a 40% increase from the previous year. This financial growth has allowed the institution to improve its services and offer higher pension benefits.
The meeting also discussed future plans including the expansion of EOBI coverage to smaller organizations with fewer than 10 employees.
Additionally EOBI is looking to include more sectors under its umbrella like agriculture, domestic work, finance and legal services.
The official announcement of the pension hike is expected to be made on Labor Day as a tribute to the working class and their contributions to the nation.
